Reciprocity Agreement for Non-AISH Training Programs

Eligibility
Training Hours

Applicants must provide documented evidence of completing the required training hours for the certification level they are seeking (minimum 220 hours for Certified Hypnotherapist; 300 hours for Certified Clinical or Transpersonal Hypnotherapist or Master Hypnotic Coach). A minimum of 30% may be live, online classes.

Training hours must be from a licensed school, recognized institution, or professional body that meets comparable standards to those of AISH. e.g. ACHE, IMDHA, IACT

Assessment of Competence

Applicants may be required to pass the AISH written and/or practical skills assessment to demonstrate competency.

Examinations may be waived if the applicant provides proof of at least three (3) consecutive years of full-time professional practice in hypnotherapy.

Ethics and Alignment

All applicants must read, sign, and agree to uphold the AISH Code of Ethics.

Applicants must demonstrate alignment with the integrative and spiritual principles that guide AISH.

Documentation Required

• • Applicants seeking reciprocity must submit:
  • A completed AISH Application for Certification.
  • Copies of training certificates verifying instruction hours.
  • A professional resume or practice history outlining experience in the field.
  • Letters of recommendation or verification of good standing from instructors, supervisors, or professional peers (optional but encouraged).
  • Payment of applicable certification fees.

Review and Approval

The AISH Certification Board will review reciprocity applications on a case-by-case basis.

Decisions will be made on a non-discriminatory basis, taking into account training, professional experience, and demonstrated commitment to ethical practice.

Applicants will be notified in writing of acceptance, denial, or conditional acceptance (pending additional requirements such as examination or mentorship hours).

Reciprocity Agreement Statement

By applying for reciprocity with AISH, the applicant affirms that:

• All submitted documents and training records are true and accurate.
• They agree to uphold the professional standards and Code of Ethics of AISH.
• They understand that reciprocity grants certification equivalency with AISH but does not imply endorsement of the non-AISH training institution.
• They accept that certification may be revoked if false information is provided or ethical standards are violated.

Trained outside an AISH-approved school?
You may still qualify for AISH Certification through our reciprocity pathway.

Step 1: Check Eligibility

• Associate Member → 150+ hours of documented hypnotherapy training
• Certified Hypnotherapist → 220+ hours of documented hypnotherapy training
• Certified Clinical / Transpersonal Hypnotherapist → 300+ hours of training in advanced, clinical, or transpersonal applications

Step 2: Gather Documents

• Completed AISH Application for Certification
• Certificates of training (and transcripts, if available)
• Professional resume or practice history
• Signed AISH Code of Ethics
• Reciprocity documents + Certification fee

Step 3: Submit Application

• Send all materials online or by mail
• Include payment ($135 | $175 total; $50 non-refundable)

Step 4: Review & Next Steps

• Certification Board reviews your application fairly, case-by-case
• You may be asked to complete the AISH skills exam
• If waived, your training/practice record stands in its place

Membership Fees

Upon reciprocity approval, you’ll join AISH at the level that matches your training and experience:

• Student Membership: $40*
• Associate Member (150 hrs): $135
• Certified Member (220 hrs): $175
• Certified Clinical / Transpersonal (300+ hrs): $175

*Student Membership requires enrollment in an AISH-approved school
