Code of Ethics
1. Competence and Professional Development
Members shall provide only those services and use only those techniques for which they are qualified by education, training, and experience.
Members agree to maintain knowledge of professional, and spiritual developments in hypnosis, hypnotherapy, and related modalities.
Ongoing professional development is required. This may include classroom training, online education, workshops, or approved self-study programs.
Members shall decline or refer clients whose needs are outside the scope of their training or competence. Referrals should be made to the most suitable practitioner available, whether or not they are a member of the Association.
2. Integrity and Professional Conduct
Members shall conduct themselves with honesty, fairness, and respect for others in all professional activities.
Members must clearly communicate the role they are performing and avoid misrepresentation of skills, qualifications, or credentials.
Professional judgments and recommendations must be grounded in knowledge that is professional or spiritually sound.
Members shall not exploit their position of trust in any way—emotionally, sexually, financially, or otherwise.
3. Informed Consent and Client Rights
Members are responsible for discussing the nature, purpose, and plan of services with clients as early as reasonably possible.
Clients must be informed of session length, fees, cancellation policies, confidentiality, and limitations of hypnosis before services begin.
Written informed consent must be obtained for services, recordings, or participation in research, demonstrations, or training programs.
When working with minors, written consent from a parent or guardian is required.
4. Fees and Financial Practices
Fees, terms of payment, and related financial arrangements must be agreed upon in writing at the start of the professional relationship.
Members are responsible for ensuring that their financial practices comply with local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
Members shall avoid financial relationships with clients that may create a conflict of interest or imbalance of power.
5. Confidentiality and Records
Client confidentiality must be respected at all times, with exceptions only when:
- The client has given written permission,
- Disclosure is required by law, or
- Information is shared with other professionals under conditions of strict anonymity.
All records (written, electronic, audio, or video) must be securely maintained. Written permission is required before any form of recording.
For training, teaching, or publication, case material must be de-identified to protect client anonymity.
Members are encouraged to retain session recordings or records for at least two years to safeguard both client and practitioner.
6. Collaboration, Referrals, and Termination
Members will consult or refer clients when it is in the client’s best interest, with appropriate consent.
Practitioners will work cooperatively with other healthcare and helping professionals whenever appropriate.
A professional relationship shall be terminated when it is clear that the client no longer benefits, rapport is broken, or continuing would not serve the client’s best interest.
7. Ethical Business Practices and Intellectual Property
Members shall respect the intellectual property of others, giving appropriate credit when quoting, teaching, or using another person’s work.
Plagiarism, duplication, or distribution of another’s work without written permission is prohibited.
Advertising and promotional materials must be truthful, accurate, and not misleading. Inaccuracies must be corrected promptly.
Members must not disparage or campaign negatively against fellow professionals.
8. General Standards of Conduct
Members shall conduct themselves professionally in all settings, whether in session, public demonstration, or private context.
Members shall obey all laws and regulations relevant to the practice of hypnotherapy in their jurisdiction.
Members shall not promise cures or give medical/psychological advice unless licensed and qualified to do so.
Members should use discretion when working with friends or family.
Members must promptly inform the Association of any disciplinary action, criminal charges, or ethical complaints involving them.
Members must keep their contact information current with the Association.
Members will make clear that hypnosis is not a substitute for medical treatment and encourage medical consultation where appropriate.
Discrimination based on religion, nationality, gender, sexual orientation, disability, politics, or social standing is strictly prohibited.
Members may accept small unsolicited tokens of appreciation but must never solicit gifts.
Members must never falsify records, credentials, or documents for themselves, clients, or students.
Members are expected to report unethical behavior to the Association when substantiated.
False accusations or malicious rumors against another member or non-member may result in disciplinary action.
9. Updates and Revisions
This Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice is a living document. The Association may update or amend it as necessary to reflect current standards, best practices, and ethical considerations. Members will be notified of revisions, and continued membership signifies acceptance of the updated standards.
Summary Statement:
By joining the Association for Integrative & Spiritual Hypnotherapists, members commit to holding themselves to the highest professional and spiritual standards. This Code of Ethics safeguards the integrity of hypnotherapy practice, protects the public, and advances the growth of integrative and spiritual hypnotherapy.
Spiritual & Intuitive Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice
The Association for Integrative & Spiritual Hypnotherapists (AISH) is founded upon the principles of integrity, compassion, and spiritual alignment. Our members recognize that hypnotherapy and intuitive work are sacred callings—honoring both professional excellence and the spiritual evolution of each client.
All members agree to uphold this Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice as a reflection of their spiritual integrity and professional responsibility.
1. Sacred Competence & Lifelong Growth
Members honor the sacred trust placed in them by providing only those services for which they are properly trained and spiritually guided to offer.
They commit to continuous personal, professional, and spiritual development through education, mentorship, and self-reflection.
Members stay current with both scientific understanding and spiritual wisdom, blending the two with discernment and humility.
When a client’s needs extend beyond their scope of expertise, members shall refer with compassion and transparency to the most suitable practitioner.
2. Integrity, Authenticity & Spiritual Alignment
Members act with truth, fairness, and respect in all professional and spiritual interactions.
They present themselves authentically, never misrepresenting credentials, gifts, or training.
Members understand that intuitive and energetic abilities carry great responsibility and use these gifts only in service of the client’s highest good.
Exploitation—emotional, financial, sexual, or spiritual—is strictly forbidden.
Each practitioner is expected to embody the values they teach, modeling integrity, humility, and compassion.
3. Informed Consent & Empowered Choice
Members ensure clients are fully informed about the nature and purpose of sessions—whether therapeutic, spiritual, or educational.
Clients are always free to choose, question, or discontinue services at any time.
Before any recording, demonstration, or group experience, written consent is obtained.
When working with minors, parental consent is required, and care is taken to protect the child’s spiritual and emotional safety.
Empowerment is a cornerstone of ethical practice: clients remain sovereign over their own healing journey.
4. Prosperity with Integrity
Financial exchanges are sacred agreements of energy.
Members are transparent about fees, session structure, and cancellation policies before services begin.
All financial practices comply with applicable laws and uphold fairness and respect.
Practitioners avoid dual or dependent relationships that could compromise professional integrity or spiritual neutrality.
Abundance and prosperity are honored as natural expressions of universal flow—never at the expense of ethics or integrity.
5. Sacred Confidentiality & Record Keeping
Client confidentiality is a sacred covenant.
Information is held in trust and shared only with the client’s written permission, under legal obligation, or for professional consultation under anonymity.
Session notes and recordings are treated as sacred records, kept secure and private.
When sharing case studies for teaching or publication, all identifying information must be removed.
Members recognize that holding confidentiality is both a professional duty and an energetic responsibility of deep respect.
6. Collaboration, Guidance & Graceful Closure
Members honor collaboration with other practitioners, healers, and healthcare providers when it supports the client’s holistic well-being.
They seek supervision, peer guidance, or mentorship when needed for clarity and growth.
When a session or relationship no longer serves the client’s highest good, members release with grace and refer as appropriate, trusting divine timing and mutual respect.
7. Ethical Business & Honoring Creation
Members respect the creative work and spiritual contributions of others.
They give credit and seek permission when using or adapting another’s teachings, writings, or intellectual property.
Advertising and public statements must reflect truth and integrity—free of exaggerated claims, false promises, or spiritual manipulation.
Members uplift rather than compete, knowing that all work done in love contributes to collective healing.
8. Universal Respect & Spiritual Equality
Discrimination or bias of any kind—based on race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, or belief system—has no place in spiritual or professional practice.
Members recognize the divine essence in every being and treat all clients, students, and colleagues with compassion, patience, and nonjudgment.
Each client’s spiritual path is honored without interference or imposition of belief.
9. Accountability & Ethical Responsibility
Members are accountable to themselves, their clients, and the AISH community for maintaining ethical integrity.
They must promptly report any legal, ethical, or disciplinary matters that could affect professional standing.
Members are encouraged to seek resolution through dialogue, mediation, or spiritual reflection before escalation.
False accusations, gossip, or slander against others are considered violations of spiritual and ethical law.
Every member is a steward of the collective vibration of AISH and contributes to its energy of light, integrity, and love.
10. Evolution of the Code
This Code of Ethics is a living document—rooted in truth, yet evolving with the growth of our collective consciousness.
Members agree to remain open to updates, revisions, and continued reflection as both the profession and humanity expand in awareness.
